D.C. is in Chaos After Protests 🏛️🔥
On January 6th, Donald Trump supporters from around the country gathered in Washington, DC for the Save America March. Things quickly turned grim when protestors marched towards the U.S. Capitol building and ultimately breached the building. Many people got arrested, four people lost their lives, and tensions between the Whitehouse and Congress hit a new high. The breach led Congress to suspend the electoral voting confirmation process (which confirmed Joe Biden’s Presidential victory) until way into the night. The areas surrounding Washington, D.C. were all put on a curfew while authorities worked to control the situation. The events that unfolded in Washington, DC on January 6th will surely live in the history books.
Elon Becomes New Richest Person 🏎️🚀
On January 7th, Elon Musk of Tesla and SpaceX officially overtook Jeff Bezos of Amazon for the world’s richest person. The change resulted from Tesla stock trading up $52.97 (+7.01%) a share to $808.95 during mid-day trading and put Elon’s net worth over $184 billion. Let’s see what 2021 and beyond has in store for Elon and see if he can keep the top spot.
Bitcoin Just Hit $40K Doubling in a Month 💰📈
On January 7th, the popular cryptocurrency Bitcoin broke through the $40,000 mark for the first time. As Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies begin to become household names, a spike in trading and interest from institutional investors has pushed Bitcoin up yet again. It’s going to be interesting seeing where Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies stand in the coming months.
